Record with your camera, a teleprompter or your screen

Record a clip straight into the project: yourself with a script scrolling near the lens, or your screen with your camera in a corner.

Record with the camera

  1. In Video, press Record under your clips (or Record with camera in a new project).
  2. Allow the camera and microphone when the browser asks. Pick another camera or microphone if you have more than one.
  3. Press Record. A 3-2-1 countdown starts. You can Pause and Resume.
  4. Press Stop, watch it back, then Use this recording or Record again.

A recording can be up to 10 minutes. The preview is shown like a mirror; the recording isn't.

Light and sound check

While the camera is on, before you press Record and while you record, short tips show at the bottom of the picture when something is wrong. Each one goes away once it's fixed:

  • Too dark: face a window or turn on a light.
  • Bright light behind you: turn around or close the curtain.
  • Your face is out of the frame (front camera only).
  • Noisy room: find a quieter spot.
  • Too quiet: move closer to the phone or microphone, or speak up.
  • Too loud: the sound is clipping. Move back a little.
  • No sound from the microphone: check it isn't muted.

Say a few words to check the sound. When all is fine you'll see Light and sound look good. A small bar shows how loud the microphone hears you. The tips only advise: they never stop or block a recording. It all runs on your phone or computer, free, and nothing is uploaded.

The teleprompter

Under the camera there is a Teleprompter box. Paste your script, or let AI write one: say what the video is about, pick the language and length, and press Write it for me. Hinglish (Hindi in English letters) is the default because it is the fastest to read; English and ten Indian languages are there too.

Lengths go from 15 seconds for a Reel up to 12 minutes for a YouTube video. From 3 minutes, the script is written in parts: what the viewer gets by the end first, then 3 to 6 parts that each give a reason to keep watching, then one thing to do.

Tick Look it up on the web first to have real pages found on your topic before the script is written. The script may only use facts from those pages, and each line with a fact ends with its page's number, like [2]. The pages are listed under the script as Sources, so you can open them and check. The numbers stay in the box but don't scroll in the teleprompter. It's ticked for you when you pick 3 minutes or more.

Before recording: the script is ready and shows at the top of the picture, near the camera.

When you press Record, the script scrolls at the top of the picture, close to the lens, so your eyes stay near the camera. Set the Speed and Size with the sliders. Untick Show while recording to hide it. Your script is kept for the next recording.

While recording, the words scroll at about the pace people speak. Slower or faster with the Speed slider.

Record your screen

Good for tutorials, software demos, showing a website or explaining a chart. Your screen and your voice are recorded together with your camera, and the camera is placed in a corner afterwards.

  1. Press Screen under your clips (or Record your screen in a new project).
  2. Press Choose what to share and pick the whole screen, one window, or a browser tab. Tick Share audio there to record the computer's sound too.
  3. Leave Show my camera in a corner ticked to have your face in a bubble. Pick the corner, shape and size now or later.
  4. Press Record, then go to the window you're showing. Come back and press Stop, or use the browser's Stop sharing.
Ready to record: the shared screen with your camera as a round bubble.

While you watch it back you can still change where the camera goes: Top left, Top right, Bottom left, Bottom right or Hide camera, its Shape (circle, rounded or square) and its Size. Press Use this recording and the server joins them into one clip.

Change the bubble after recording. What you see is what the clip will look like.
